Estrogen gives you cancer! My sex life will never be the same. I just want to go through menopause naturally…Are these the thoughts that come to mind when the M word comes up? \nIn this multi-session webinar\, you’ll learn more about menopause than you could imagine\, with the opportunity to ask questions and share your experiences. We will talk about the intersection of menopause and living with neurologic impairment. You deserve to make choices that allow you to thrive and to make decisions based in evidence\, rather than in fear. \nIn Module One: A Mindset for Approaching Midlife\, we will talk about the basics of menopause\, define terms and symptoms\, discuss options for managing and coping with this transitional life stage and embrace a mindset of empowerment. Menopause can be distressing but it can also be the best season of your life. \nAbout the speaker: Margaret Conquest wears many hats\, her favorite being a vulnerable co-conspirator with women with disabilities trying to live their best lives. She has 33 years of lived experience as a quadriplegic and a passion for pushing higher in life. When it comes to perimenopause and menopause management\, there isn’t much she hasn’t explored. She has a Masters of Science in Health Promotion Studies\, studied sexual health and spent most of her career working in the nonprofit disability sector. Now retired\, she returns to her enduring interest in sexual health\, with a focus on pleasure and sexual health education for women in mid-life. It’s got a job to do and that job is important. It’s your cushion’s job to redistribute pressure\, regulate temperature and moisture\, and correct your posture. Without a quality cushion you increase your risk of a pressure injury and every year more than 25 000 people die from these preventable wounds. \nChoosing a cushion can be overwhelming\, especially since there are hundreds of options on the market. But luckily choosing a cushion doesn’t have to be done alone. Occupational therapists specializing in wheelchair seating are equipped with the knowledge and expertise to help narrow down the search for a cushion. However\, finding an OT in your area that has this specialized knowledge can sometimes be a challenge. \nThat’s why she’s teamed up with Blake Medical\, a cushion manufacturer\, and Markie Ryckman\, a wheelchair seating OT\, to bring you a YouTube Live all about how to choose a wheelchair cushion. A fridge & freezer\, oven\, stove\, microwave\, coffee maker\, toaster\, and kettle. And bonus the 3 bedroom cabins include dishwashers and detergent! \nStaying at WWL | Cabins:  \n Each cabin has a bath and a roll in shower available. Each cabin also has one hospital style bed available. You will need to bring your own bedding (sheets\, blanket\, pillow)\, toiletries\, towel\, clothing for the weather\, snacks and a lift sling or any other medical equipment you require. \nOne of the cabins is pet friendly\, while the other is not. It is a beautiful completely accessible camp group with paved pathways throughout. The only downside is that there is no cell service or wifi available\, but it is a great opportunity to disconnect and revitalize in nature. If the weather cooperates we are hoping to have a campfire night the first evening as well! \n As the camp will take place in April in the mountains\, the weather can be very unpredictable\, be sure to plan to bring lots of layers\, warm boots\, snow gear (jacket + snow pants) and waterproof gloves. \nIf you have signed up for adaptive activities with RMA:\n(Please note: there is currently a waitlist for activity spaces\, but may be able to accommodate if more staff are available)\nThere will be full activity days on Monday\, April 8 and Tuesday\, April 9. There are options for an all in option with a full or half day alpine skiing\, cross country skiing\, bowhead adaptive biking\, and rest and relaxation in the mountains!
