Planned Giving

Estate or planned gifts provide opportunities for donors, during and after their lifetime, to support SCI Alberta and people with spinal cord injuries.

Outright gifts that use appreciated assets as a substitute for cash.

Gifts that return income or other financial benefits to the donor in return for the contribution.

Gifts payable upon the donor’s end of life.

A planned gift is any major gift, made in lifetime or after, as part of a donor’s overall financial and/or estate planning. Planned giving is an option for donors of all income levels and may allow you to make a larger gift than you otherwise could from your current assets.

A planned gift may also let you receive an income stream for life, while reducing capital gains or estate taxes. By including SCI Alberta in your financial planning, you can provide a legacy that will benefit people with spinal cord injuries for generations to come.

Estate and planned gifts can be made through wills and living trusts, life insurance or retirement beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and life estate in personal residence or farm.

All are wonderful ways to SCI Alberta. We would be pleased to discuss options with you but also recommend that you speak with your accountant or financial advisor to determine what’s best for you.
