Kevin Heikkila – Peer Coordinator

Kevin is excited to be joining Spinal Cord Injury Alberta as the new Peer Coordinator in Calgary.

He brings a background in community engagement, event management, accessibility, and the arts. Before joining SCIA, he spent many years performing as a musician, working in sound engineering in a project studio, managing public events, and working in live entertainment. He also recently completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts with a focus on accessibility and inclusive design. Having lived with a spinal cord injury for more than 30 years, he appreciates the value of peer support and the importance of creating inclusive communities where everyone feels welcome.

Kevin is looking forward to connecting with people throughout Alberta, building relationships, and helping individuals access the resources, programs, and support they need. Outside of work, he enjoys music, technology, travel, studying Spanish, and developing projects that promote accessibility and inclusion. He looks forward to meeting many of you in the months ahead.
