“Rev-It Up +Wind Down” SCI Wellness Retreat Weekend

Join us for the “Rev-It Up +Wind Down” SCI Wellness Retreat Weekend from Sept 28-Oct 1 in the Bow Valley.
The cost will be $200 and will include all activities, transportation from Edmonton, accommodation and food!
Activities will include adaptive mountain biking, yoga, meditation, SCI education sessions and more!

Rev-It-Up and Wind-It-Down SCI Retreat Weekend in the Bow Valley
Weekend Overview:
When: Thursday, Sept 28- Sunday, Oct 1
Where: Bow Valley
What: Adaptive Hiking, Adaptive yoga, meditation, and Tibetan singing bowl sound bath session. SCI Education Session, round table discussion and a chance to connect with peers. Transportation will be included to and from Edmonton. Accommodations, activities and food will all be included for an all in price of $200 to the participants.
Who: Open to those living with SCIs – congenital or acquired (total of 6 participants + Kendra)
Why: Showcase adaptive recreation opportunities through RMA, and take time to reflect on the experience, and set future goals that help the adjustment process to living with an SCI. It will also be an opportunity to get out into the mountains and take time to connect with nature, and explore places with adaptive equipment that would otherwise be difficult to navigate as a wheelchair user.

Thursday Sept 28:

- 12:00pm: participants will be at pick-up site ready to go in Edmonton, pick up at there at the REYU Clinic (Reyu address is 17716 107 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB, T5S 1G8)
- travel will be in your chair
- 1:00pm: Depart Edmonton
- no bagged lunch on the bus, eat beforehand
- 5:00pm: arrival, give people time to settle No Appies supper will be provided guests on own for snacks till supper
- 6pm: intro to weekend, discuss itinerary and requirements – Dave (not staying for dinner)

- Dinner provided: participants can choose at the table

- Sirloin Steak GF, Center cut and grilled to medium. Served with vegetable garnish and garlic mashed potatoes.
- Oven Roasted Chicken GF (DF) Pan seared and roasted. Served with vegetable garnish and garlic mashed potatoes.
- Mediterranean Cauliflower V, VG -Oven roasted with green garbanzo bean hummus, pistachio nuts, couscous, and tahini lemon sauce.

Saturday, Sept 30:
- 8:00am get organized for the day →will be crisp so wear layers and warm clothes
- 9:00am: Breakfast Buffet in KEG menu same as before
- 10:00am: participants ready at lobby, load van
- 10:30am – 3:30pm: Paddlesports @ Rundle Forebay
- lunch break mid-paddle at CNC – cornerstone lunch
- 3-3:30pm: load van, Depart back to the accommodations and have some downtime before dinner
- 5:00pm: Dinner time

- 7:30pm: arrive and get settled into the studio space (Hot Yoga studio, so will be warm)
- 8:00pm: start time for Yin Yoga and Tibetan Singing Bowls class with Kenny + Stef – Canmore Hot Yoga
- 9:30pm: Session ends and begin loading back into the transport
- 10:00pm-10:30pm: Arrive back at the accommodations, get settled into evening routine
Sunday, Oct 1:
- 9:00am: Wake up and breakfast
- 10:00am-12:00pm: Morning activity: SCI Education Session/Presentation, and round table discussion
- focused on reflection of living with a SCI, and the experience of being able to return to nature/mountains in an adaptive way.
- Exploration of the mental, physical, emotional aspects of the journey and activities. Allow space for open discussion and support.

- 12:30pm: Load up the van and begin departure back to Edmonton
- Rocky Mountain Bagel Co. bagged lunch provided for drive home Coke, Sprite, Water
- 5:00pm: Approx arrival time back in Edmonton
